My Natural Hair Journey
I am an African with 4C Hair (afro-textured, kinky). Growing up, having 4C Hair comes with a lot of stress: hard to comb, plait, and work with. As a young girl in an African home, you are either made to plait your hair with thread (which is painful and unbearable) or add a relaxer to make it stretch and doable. These two options brought me pain that I could not endure as a child. In the end, I take the option to go bald.
As I grew up, I wanted to have my hair on but I had to look for a better option. I tried relaxing my hair many times but came back with a burnt scalp. With the recent trend hairstyles, I bumped on pictures of ladies wearing their 4C hair gallantly, and I wanted all of that. I began to read blogs and watch Youtube videos to know how to go about it. I was not the only one thirsty for this trend for my 4C hair, a few African women wanted it. And this was the beginning of my natural hair journey.
Starting my natural hair journey has been amazing for me. Watching every curly strand grow, inch by inch with different regimens applied to make the best of my 4C hair. My confidence growing day by day as I represent my motherland, Africa. Planning the best protective hairstyles that would help build my hair, I have found out a few that would help you too.
I will be sharing with you a few of my regimens. Thank you for reading this article. I would be glad to read your comments below.
